Baisakhi is celebrated as an auspicious occasion in the state of Punjab, in India. Actually it has triple significance for the state. It marks the begining of a new year, anniversary of the birth of Sikh religion (1699) and the Jalianwala Bagh massacre (1919).
Bhangra is the cultural folk dance of the rural state of Punjab (Land of five rivers – located in Northern India and Pakistan) and can be traced back to the early 1400s .
