Baisakhi

Baisakhi is celebrated as an auspicious occasion in the state of Punjab, in India. Actually it has triple significance for the state. It marks the begining of a new year, anniversary of the birth of Sikh religion (1699) and the Jalianwala Bagh massacre (1919).

I was in San Francisco for the new year eve. I watched the grand arrival of mayor Willie Brown and enjoyed fireworks making smilies in the sky. Here are a few pictures of the new year celebration in San Francisco. The fire-works were spectacular and there were simles all around.
